Just one tree... by robz

Just one tree...

Tough, textured, resilient, stately and home to so many different creatures. Part of our national identity.
What kind of tree is it. Is it dormant or dead? Love all the texture on the rocks also.

@shutterbug49 Hi Shutterbug - It's a type of Eucalypt. This one can survive very cold temperatures and very dry conditions. It germinated in a crack in the vast granite dome and has managed to grow to this size while forcing the crack to get larger and allow other smaller plants to grow beside it. It's alive and doing well - but I've only shown the bottom section here. A lot of those older twigs etc will fall off and accumulate at the bottom. They are pretty impressive. Thanks for your interest. Cheers Rob

I do love eucalypts. We have one here as a nod to our time in Australia, such powerful resilient and elegant trees.
