@jgpittenger Hi Jane - the big prints were from an oyster catcher, the little one from some sort of tidal plover that we hadn't seen before and I think the strange squiggles must have been some sort of mollusc. All on a very public beach with just a single strand of rope and a sign asking people to keep out. It was actually quite impressive to see that people actually took note of it and did the right thing. :)
