Interesting but unknown..

If anybody can identify this rather strange head of seed pods I would really appreciate it.
It has a vary tall stem (approx 80cm) but only one short, sheath-like leaf at the bottom of the stem.

@casablanca Hi Casablanca - sorry to be so long answering you - we've been missing in action quite a bit lately.
They do look like Hakea pods - but the plant itself isn't at all like a Hakea - it's more like a grass plant with just one big sheath - all quite odd.
Apparently there is an App you can get that lets you upload a photo of a flower and it then identifies the flower - I guess we'll have to wait for a flower to find out what it is.
