Dotted Sun Orchid... by robz

Dotted Sun Orchid...

The first time we've seen these - fabulous purple/blue orchids about 12 inches high - in amongst the grass.
What a lovely find.

These look a bit different to our sun orchids. They're a similar colour but the centres are different. https://365project.org/merrelyn/365/2020-09-28

@merrelyn yes - this does look a little different to the ones on your link. My photo isn't very good - we were on a wildflower walk and lots of people were crowding round to get a photo - it was awful actually - they didn't seem to care much where they put their feet. I'm pretty sure that they were similar to yours, maybe a slightly different species - these were called Dotted Sun Orchid by the wildflower group leader. We were pretty excited to see them..... :)

@tinley23 @koalagardens @ludwigsdiana Hi Lesley, Diana and Katrina - I just had to confess that these were a first for us - we went on a guided wildflower walk at the N.P. Unfortunately we haven't ever seen these on our block. :(

Perfect Dof on this one...and did you catch the subtle framing by those diagonal branches that work so well?
