what a delightful shot - thank you so much for your new year wishes, and I send them back to you in abundance. we are all doing our bit in many ways, I'm so glad I met you here
@wakelys Hi Susan - I'm so sorry to be so long in answering your question - I haven't had much time for 365 lately.
These are Eucalypt flowers and buds. The caps fall off the buds to allow the flowers to open. We have dozens of different species of them - some much more spectacular than others. Thanks for your interest - cheers Rob
@jyokota Hi Junko - You were right in thinking that the bulbs were going to open into the flowers. They are buds and the little cap on the end of them falls off the expose the flower. All Eucalypts have the same type of bud. The flower dies and then turns into a gum nut - as made famous by May Gibb's Gun Nut babies. Thanks for your interest and comment. Cheers Rob
@shutterbug49 I'm sorry Debbie - but I can't remember what sort of Eucalypt this is - even though we planted it. We've done a lot of replanting using many types of gum - but we were pretty slack in recording which ones we put where! :)
@koalagardens Hi Katrina - I'm so sorry to have been so long in replying to you. I haven't had much time for 365 lately but I always enjoy my glimpses into your part of the world. If you ever find yourself up near Stanthorpe please let me know and we can get together for a chat and a wander. Cheers Rob
@lastrami_ Hi Lastrami - it's one of our Aussie Eucalypts. They have gorgeous flowers but it's often difficult to see the details as they are at the tops of the trees. This is on a baby that we planted. Thanks for your interest and comments.
