Winter is bleak..... by robz

Winter is bleak.....

and not very inviting for outdoor activities.....
This made me smile because when The Young Fella trained in watersports, it was the Winter and they were chipping the ice off the paddleboards and dinghies in the mornings!

Same here today Rob, I walked on the beach in miserable weather and gale force winds!

We had a lovely day today, but that's all set to change tomorrow.

Oh no. Difficult to imagine as it’s hot here.

Looks bleak…what kind of netting do I see Rob?

@jacqbb Hi Jacqueline. This is showing some of the netting that the apple and other fruit farmers erect around their paddocks. The roof section protects from hail and often has valleys in it - to allow the hail to accumulate in one line and then fall through an open seam onto the bare ground between the rows of fruit trees. The sides are netted to keep birds from getting in and pecking at the fruit. They can usually be rolled up out of the way for access. The nets are really expensive to install but most farmers have them. Hope this makes sense. Cheers Rob

@casablanca I can remember seeing your images when he was doing his training ..... it looked brutal! He probably looks back now and shudders. :)

@wakelys Hi Susan -LOL . I find that one of the fascinating things about 365 - input from people all around the world. It's like a little window into so many different areas and life styles. :)

@ludwigsdiana You're very brave Diana - I've been hunkering down in front of the fire..... :)

Bleak here at the moment and so cold. Raining again today.

Your image definitely captured the bleakness. Very grey. Hope you get some blue sky. That always makes it feel warmer even if it isn’t.

@robz Thanks for your explanation, they have them here too mostly for the cherry trees.

Fortunately, we have 365 which forces us to be active.

I struggle to stop my garden looking like this in Winter. At least some jonquils have come out!

I love all the lines and the silver-grays.
