A lucky side-trip by robz

A lucky side-trip

Away from the coast and on our way to The Hunter Valley for wine tasting - the map showed an "Item of Interest" called The Eye of the Needle. We had to have a look - it was an incredible area - huge rough, cave-pitted mountains formed from conglomerate rocks. Millions of rounded rocks - varied sizes and colours, but all beautifully water-weathered into smooth tactile shapes.
Great to be travelling at leisure to take serendipitous side trips like this

Very dramatic place. I like to read Ken Follet and as soon as I read "The Eye of the needle" I thought about his over I read many years ago.

@corinnec LOL - thanks for your comment Corinne - it solved a memory loss for me. The Eye of the Needle rang bells but I just couldn't remember where from! Great novel too. :)

@ludwigsdiana Hi Dianna - like you we also live in a wine area - at Stanthorpe on the Granite Belt in Queensland. Our cellar doors are normally family run and quite modest. On this stage of our trip I was really reminded of your fabulous cellar door photos. The wineries in the Hunter are definitely along the lines of Stellanbosch rather than Stanthorpe - just awesome!

@fbailey Hi FB - I hope it doesn't end up being incredibly boring for you - we're going to be travelling for 5 months. The IR camera is coming with us so hopefully some of those photos will turn out to be ok. I have to remember how to use it first.. :)
Thanks for your interest.
