@onewing Hi Babs - that was impressive! They dug a deep ring, with a short trail leading away from it- walked around and filled it with petrol - and that huge fire was alight in one almighty bang!!
@pdulis I can see why - you seem to have more than your share of bushfires. This was pretty secure with a large distance between the fire and the scrub, and not very much wind. :)
Hi all - thanks for your interest in the eyes! We did indeed find out what they were - and it gave our skipper a bit of a jolt! He was a long time organizing for us to leave the island. When he called us down we found he had maneuvered the tender right up against a rocky outcrop and pulled the dinghy right up beside it on the other side. We only had to wade out through water about 40cm deep - sort of protected on each side. When we got onto the tender Errol aimed his torch down into the water beside us - in time to see the body of a large croc swim under the tender!!
Apparently the skipper's not going to use that beach any more for the bonfires - crocs have very good memories! @olivetreeann@jgpittenger@maggiemae@shutterbug49@ludwigsdiana@wakelys@pusspup
