It was my dream to one day retire to a place on a beach. But then, hurricanes happenings have intensified, and now we see tsunamis happening more often as well. We have visited the Outer Bank of North Carolina several times and the last time we did while on a wild horse tour, we came across a house sitting on the beach. The tour guide told us that the last hurricane eroded the beach so badly that the house that used to be away from the shore was now on it and the owners had to have a house mover come in and move it to a new location.
Terrific to have the two photos to compare. I used to sit on a resource management and planning appeals tribunal where
concerns about such things as Skip @skipt07 comments on were responded to. Your photos are, therefore, really interesting to me, on all kinds of levels.
Pictures like this always make you want to live on a beach- but then you see what happens when a storm hits and common sense says, "Beach house? No thanks!" Good shot.
Hi Margaret, Ann, Corinne, Skip and Maggiemae - in the early days there were some instances where whole unit blocks were actually hanging out over the incoming waves during rough weather. A rock wall was eventually installed along the full length of the GC and it has helped a lot. It works well with the sand stabilization program of groynes and spinifex plantings. Hopefully it'll keep most sections safe for a bit longer. Thanks for your interest! Cheers Rob @olivetreeann@craftymeg@corinnec@skipt07@maggiemae
I have to agree with all of you Casablanca, Carole, Babs and Kerry. It does make you worry for the future and for the young people in your life. But, it also makes you try to enjoy and appreciate each day... Thanks for your comments and interest. Cheers Rob @casablanca@carole_sandford@onewing@mccarth1
@ankers70 Hi Suzanne. You and my Dad would have had so much to talk about! Being on the resource management and planning appeals tribunal must have been fairly eye opening in many cases. So many and varied projects put forward - with so many of them being totally unsuitable... It must have been fascinating.. Cheers Rob

I’ve spent a little time thinking of the way to write positively and with joy. We now live in a world of uncertainty.
I really like these photos…
