Taken from the same Headland as yesterday's image..

Only 60 years ago. Before the beach stabilization program and before the high-rises. You can only try to imagine it in 60 more years!
I think I would rather not imagine the future! Happy with the past here 😀

Houses so close to the water!

The water is beautiful. It looks so inviting. Love the pov.

I think the future is looking a bit scary! This is a beautiful image.

It was my dream to one day retire to a place on a beach. But then, hurricanes happenings have intensified, and now we see tsunamis happening more often as well. We have visited the Outer Bank of North Carolina several times and the last time we did while on a wild horse tour, we came across a house sitting on the beach. The tour guide told us that the last hurricane eroded the beach so badly that the house that used to be away from the shore was now on it and the owners had to have a house mover come in and move it to a new location.

Lovely composition, the water looks fabulous

Beautiful scene, beautifully captured. Wonderful vantage point fv!
February 12th, 2024
What a gorgeous view!
February 12th, 2024
Interesting to see the development. In another 60 years, the sea might be a lot further in!
February 12th, 2024
What a difference between this one and the previous photo. I expect in 60 years' time it will all be under water.
February 12th, 2024
Love the tones… what a beautiful place.

Terrific to have the two photos to compare. I used to sit on a resource management and planning appeals tribunal where
concerns about such things as Skip @skipt07 comments on were responded to. Your photos are, therefore, really interesting to me, on all kinds of levels.

Great angle to see the surf.

Gorgeous shot!
February 13th, 2024
Lovely shot and a great image to compare to the previous one. I'll guess the water might reach the hotels in the not-too-distant future.
February 13th, 2024
So different - amazing !
February 13th, 2024
Pictures like this always make you want to live on a beach- but then you see what happens when a storm hits and common sense says, "Beach house? No thanks!" Good shot.

Awesome capture. Love the blue's in there.

Wow
February 13th, 2024
Definitely more beautiful. Love it.
February 13th, 2024
Beautiful scenery

That is a remarkable transformation, with many changes made in a relatively short 60 years. I have to admit I prefer it as it was 60 years ago - fav!

I much prefer it like this. I fear that in the not too distant future our local beach will look like your previous image :(
February 13th, 2024
Lovely beach. The sea is a stunning colour
February 13th, 2024
Nice historical image
February 13th, 2024
Those houses are so close but what a view!!

It’s really interesting to see your two photos 60 yrs apart

I’ve spent a little time thinking of the way to write positively and with joy. We now live in a world of uncertainty.

I really like these photos…

@beverley365 Uncertainty is the word Beverley. But I do like the positivity you bring to all of your uploads. Thanks for your comments and interest.

Hi Margaret, Ann, Corinne, Skip and Maggiemae - in the early days there were some instances where whole unit blocks were actually hanging out over the incoming waves during rough weather. A rock wall was eventually installed along the full length of the GC and it has helped a lot. It works well with the sand stabilization program of groynes and spinifex plantings. Hopefully it'll keep most sections safe for a bit longer. Thanks for your interest! Cheers Rob

@merrelyn Hi Merrelyn - we love your WA beaches - they are still mainly so natural and so deserted! :)
February 13th, 2024
@fishers Hi Ian - we definitely did too!! It's very touristy now and we tend to escape to Stanthorpe quite often. :)
February 13th, 2024
@pusspup Like we remember it - still basically a country town on the beach. A great place to grow up! :)

I have to agree with all of you Casablanca, Carole, Babs and Kerry. It does make you worry for the future and for the young people in your life. But, it also makes you try to enjoy and appreciate each day... Thanks for your comments and interest. Cheers Rob

@ankers70 Hi Suzanne. You and my Dad would have had so much to talk about! Being on the resource management and planning appeals tribunal must have been fairly eye opening in many cases. So many and varied projects put forward - with so many of them being totally unsuitable... It must have been fascinating.. Cheers Rob
