It's hot here, grass growing madly, fire danger. Errol mowed for 4 hours, didn't drink enough water, came inside and collapsed onto the slate flooring. I thought he was dead!
Ambos came, took him to the hospital, I moved into a motel within walking distance.
2 nights in hospital, lots of tests, told to go home and drink more water, mow less!
Lesson learned!
Oh dear. What a stressful time for you. So pleased that all is well. What a cute looking hospital. So many like this with character in the uk have closed and replaced by large monstrosities.
Oh no! That must have been so scary for you! Dehydration is not good in a hot climate! I have a feeling he won’t do that again. It looks a nice hospital building, as Sue said many of ours like this have been replaced!
Oh dear how scary. You can't tell them sometimes can you. It has been so hot and humid here too and a few days ago David had been mowing the lawn and then came in looking rather vague. I made him drink lots of water because he too doesn't drink enough water and eventually, he felt better. Glad all was well with Errol
Oh my- dehydration is nothing to fool around with! I'm so glad the outcome was good. And true- while hubby LeFevre does drink enough water, he does not eat properly. Comes home and says, "I'm so hungry!" I say, "When did you eat lunch?" And then he sheepishly removes it from his lunch box and puts it back in the frig. Really?! What a quaint hospital!
Ooh, what a scary story. Hope you are both ok now. Makes me think because I very rarely drink anything except for a coffee and that's not often either.
Oh dear, how traumatic for you (and Errol!). I hope he has learned his lesson, the consequences of not drinking enough in hot conditions aren't pleasant. I like this shot, it is an attractive building - fav!
Thank you all for your kind wishes. Luckily Errol seems fine now, and is pleased to let me drive him around for 2 weeks - apparently there's a law about not driving after a concussion. The hospital staff were lovely - as is the gorgeous vintage main building in the image. They've added bits onto it but left the original untouched - it suits our town perfectly. Thanks again for your thoughts. Cheers Rob @wakelys@carole_sandford@olivetreeann@tinley23@amyk@briaan@ludwigsdiana@mittens@fishers
Hi Jackie, Joy and KV. Thanks for your kind wishes and I'll read your comments to Errol! We definitely need a guy with a tractor and slasher! And a more boring life with no hospital visits! :) @30pics4jackiesdiamond@joysabin@kvphoto
Thank you all for your kind thoughts. It was incredibly scary - he collapsed and hit his head on the floor and was unconscious for about 3 minutes. I really thought he was dead!. It makes you realize how fragile life is and how precious. So thank you all so much for your concern and thoughts. :) @mubbur@mccarth1@larrysphotos@joansmor@jnewbio@dkbarnett@merrelyn@craftymeg
It was a relief to find out what had actually caused him to collapse. At least he can be aware now and hopefully prevent it happening again. Lots of water, a daily electrolyte replacement tablet when it's really hot, less mowing, less coffee and beer and hopefully all will be fine... Maybe a lesson for all of us who are just that tiny bit older but still feel younger and try to do what we've always done... Many thanks to all of you for sharing your similar situations and sending your kind thoughts. Cheers Rob @onewing@olivetreeann@jgpittenger@seattlite@marlboromaam@illinilass@paintdipper@rickster549@sangwann@ollyfran@mubbur@bkbinthecity@cdcook48
My goodness Rob! I just read your very scary story! I'm happy to hear everything's on the mend, and your worrisome story has some admonitions to be followed!
What a frightening experience for you Rob, pleased all ended well dehydration is an awful thing, just keep hydrated when outside, btw it’s a pretty looking hospital:)
Many thanks for your kind thoughts and concern. Luckily Errol seems to have escaped with no permanent damage, and he's definitely going to be more careful from now on! And, Joe, he's sorted out that wine and beer are both Ok - as long as you match the volumes with an equal volume of water! Makes for lots of trips to the bathroom! Thanks again Rob @Weezilou@pcoulson@joemuli@haskar
