The Glasshouse Mountains - from a distance, on a foggy day.
Thank you everybody for your lovely congrats and good wishes on our Anniversary! 45 years have really flown.
I had always wondered about the name of these craggy mountains. Apparently, Cpt Cook named them because they reminded him of the glass making foundries in Yorkshire. They formed approximately 25–27 million years ago. Molten rock filled small vents beneath the surface and solidified into hard rocks. You can climb most of them - some with great difficulty though! :)
@shutterbug49 Thanks for your comment Debbie - yes - her photos have been just amazing. Similar structures but hers are in such a desolate area. These seem to have a different feel to them in their forest settings. Both fabulous in their own way. Cheers Rob
@clifford Hi Cliff - they are quite breathtaking to see in real life - just rising up out of the scenery. It's hard to catch the feeling in a photo, so I did appreciate your comment. Thanks very much Cheers Rob
