What is a surreal photograph? by robz

What is a surreal photograph?

I'm not sure but I think I might like surreal photos. Some googling suggested that "If we let go of the idea that photography realistically portrays reality, we begin exploring a very different psychological, philosophical, and artistic territory: surreal photography. These types of photos have been described in a variety of ways: unusual, unreal, idiosyncratic, illogical, irrational, weird, dream-like, hallucinatory, surprising, startling, disorienting, upsetting, disturbing, and anarchistic. They tamper with the boundary between reality and fantasy, showing us things that are impossible in everyday life. Blur, Intense sharpness, detail, and contrast, Intensified and unusual texture, Intensified and unusual colour, Composites and blendings, Frozen movement, Perceptual distortions and illusions, Strange juxtapositions and Primitive content can all be associated with surreal photos". I thought I might investigate a few of them. This was simple starter?

Very effective starter, I like it:)

@fbailey @suzanne234 Thank you both for having a look. I think I might play with this for a month and see what happens. There seems to be lots of possible options to try. Thanks again for your kind comments. Cheers Rob

This is a great image Rob. I love where you are coming from here and it is really cool that you are happy to experiment to learn. Images don't have to be realistic - what we are doing is art.
