I did not recognize the story behind the tree that we stopped to look at (only because there was sign that pointed to The Cazneaux Tree) However, the story was told on a plaque near the viewing point - and this was a fabulous old gnarled River Red Gum! When we got back some research showed that Cazneaux's "Spirit of Endurance" image was in sepia and actually involved a POV which was not really feasible from the easily reached viewing areas. And in the past 82 years the old tree has actually done quite well!!
Anyway - I had a go at emulating his image - the collage shows one of my originals in the centre, an editied version on the left and the Cazneaux original on the right. :)
