As it has been a terrible wet day today, I went up to the RSPB as I knew that I could sit in the hide. However, it's quite a walk from the car to get there and it's a good job I put my wellies on as the path was very wet and muddy! I spent about an hour and a half there and shamefully took nearly 400 photos! Oh dear I must remind myself not to take so many as they only have to be trawled through when I get home. As everyone seemed to like my little blue tit yesterday that was in my Bits & Bobs album, I decided to post another one today as I really like these little birds. Funnily, the kestrel that was my main pic yesterday and is far harder to get pics of didn't do so well but I think that is because kestrels are not so colourful. Nobody could say this little fellow isn't colourful.

He's lovely and it's beautifully done in the dismal conditions too! I love your kestrel too! I was standing in my daughter's bedroom casually looking out at the garden while I was on the phone and a bird of prey flew straight up the garden at eye level at speed towards me. It veered off at the last minute but was pretty dramatic. Sparrow hawk maybe?
This is simply fab Rosie! Though I love yesterday's kestrel too! I've been thinking about you - we are surrounded by Blackcaps and Stonechats and most amazingly crested Larks. My stalking powers are not good, and my lenses too short for good images, but we are having fun!
