MALTESE WALL LIZARDS by sangwann

MALTESE WALL LIZARDS

The Maltese Wall Lizards are endemic to Malta and are found nowhere else in the World. The male lizard is bigger than the female and is green whilst the female is brown. Lizards feed on ants and small insects (though they seem to enjoy this apple core). In winter they hide away but in summer they come out to warm themselves in the sun as they are cold-blooded animals. Lizards are members of the dinosaur family. It seems that when fed regularly by humans they would even come to eat from one’s hand.
Are they called Wall Lizards beacuse they climb vertically very well? They have impressive colours

Great shot! very nice close up. I think that you are getting a hang of it - when they do not come on their own, you have to use some bait. This is really a nice shot that really captures these shy native reptiles nicely.
