Rudolphe Stree, Sliema, has a lot of memories for me and my wife, Christine. I was born in a house in front of the colonnaded building and lived the first 10 years (or so) of my life in the area until we moved to another part of the town. My wife came to live here (near the parked car) a few years after we left (too young to get in love then anyway). My in-laws lived in that same dwelling up to their last days and my brother-in-law lives in the place now. The colonnaded building was the recreation area for the boys of the area. It was a boys' club managed by the Catholic Action Movement. Who knows how many footballs I kicked in the big yard of the place and how many table-tennis and table-soccer matches I lost and won. Now the place still serves the same purpose but children do not go there any more, only a few grown-ups (you can count them on your fingers) go there now.
Thank you so much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday's picture
A lovely story. How things change from one generation to the next. It's a little sad but it's inevitable. Different times, different lives. Great shot of your old neighbourhood. 8)
Great shot. I like how you've done it with a negative look. It like looking back on a memory. :Growing up in the middle of a city is so different from the life style I remember of my early years. I always thought it would be fun to be where more was happening but we always wonder about how others live.
