I was following this Cabbage White butterfly all over my garden to try and capture him while flying or at least with wings open but he kept flitting from one plant to another – couldn’t even get him in my viewfinder. When I lost patience I decided I would take a shot of him anyway. So the first time he stopped for a breather I snapped a shot. When I put it on the computer I couldn’t believe my eyes – I saw a double-headed butterfly. Seems that my butterfly decided to rest close to another who was already there (not to my knowledge). They are so close together that they seem to have merged into one butterfly.
Thank you so much for looking and for your lovely comments on my yesterday's picture.
I believe they are not just side by side, but instead are mating, wow! What an unusual find and capture!....they may well have been mating while in flight! Like how they almost blend in with the leaves.. Great shot Dione
Did you see my post of the same mating butterflies? So funny that we have taken the same type of photo on different continents! http://365project.org/falcon11/extras
I'm off to have my first swim for this summer in the blue Mediterranean. The weathermen say the sea temperature is 21 c so it shouldn't be too cold. I will catch up with commenting later.
you'd have seen if it was mating - they are connected tail to tail and it's a very odd shaped butterfly flying around. They might be about to start mating!
