Now let me out of this bl …. dy pen.
Meet Tiku. Tiku is a pony living like a king at San Anton. He is well-groomed and well-fed and is there for children to enjoy. But he is locked up for most the day in an open pen but has a shed where he can have shelter.
San Anton is the official residence of the President of the Republic of Malta. It has extensive grounds which have almost all been opened for the public to enjoy. The Palace itself owns its beginning to Grand Master of the Order of the Knights of Malta, Fra Antoine de Paule, a French Knight who came from the Langue of Provence. He was elected as the 54th Grand Master of the Order in 1623. He named the palace after his patron saint St Anthony of Padua. The palace was intended to serve the Grand Master as a summer residence complete with a private chapel dedicated to the Madonna del Pilar. Successive Grand Masters were to use the place as their country-residence. The Palace was the seat of the National Assembly of France from February 1799 to 1800 during the French occupation. Under British rule it became the residence of the Governor and later the Governor-General of Malta.
Many thanks for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s picture. Jennifer, I used to go kayaking when I was young but our kayaks then were not sleek like those of today. Mine was made of a wooden frame covered with canvas and it could take 4 persons. John Brown and Howard Steele, the beer is already cold in the fridge.
Wonder who gets the last laugh on this one, he who laughs last, is a darn fool for waiting so long....Ha Ha!...this is an excellent capture, and well done!
