There is no celebration in Malta without fireworks and millions are spent every year on fireworks for village feasts. The eve prior to the feast is when there is a feast of fireworks, starting after sunset and continueing up to midnight.
I didn't have the intention to take fireworks pictures at the eve of feast of St Julian but the temptation to take my camera was too big. Those were the most magnificent fireworks of the whole Sliema area. To my dismay, however, I did not capture the best of them. The display was computer operated to the beat of music which we could not hear being on the opposite side of the bay. So fireworks were sometimes distanced between one and the other. At one time I was certain the display was over so I packed my camera into its case when suddenly with a very spectacular display there was the grand finale of the show and it was impossible to watch and try to grab the camera to take further pictures.
These are some I captured during the evening.
Thank you for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
My first thought was, "wow great firework shots!" and then I read your commentary. Well, you fooled me- I think they're spectacular even if they aren't the best of the best. Nice collage Dione!
