I have taken hundreds of shots in this museum and it’s so difficult to choose a sample of what I have captured and seen. So I made up this collage to give a tiny glimpse of what was around. I am not including samples of decorated coffins and especially of some very interesting writings on papyrus and also an authentic Egyptian tomb brought back from Egypt and mounted in this museum.
This collage includes mummies – amazing how after so many thousands of years the embalmed bodies are still intact – small wooden artifacts, and the thing I loved most, a pair of shoes. Some years ago I have been to the Louvres in Paris where they have a very big collection of Egyptian finds but I have never seen a pair of shoes and in exceptionally good condition like these.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s picture.
The exhibits look so interesting! I would've spent a long, long time in there just looking. When we were in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, we lost track of time. I wish we had at least one more day in there. Fantastic collage, Dione!
That must have been a fascinating visit. I looked at the large view to get a better look at those shoes - they're like new! Perhaps they were specially made for the dead man to help him on his journey through the underworld.
A wonderful collage of all those beautiful historical treasures.
If I see that many I always get problems with seeing more. Like when I want to buy a book in a big bookstore I see so many books I lost myself in it and going home with no book at all. Somebody recognize this ?
