22nd August. Our next event for the day was a cruise on a large barge along the River Krka (I challenge you to pronounce the name) in the Novo Mesto (New Town) area. The barge was lined with tables and benches and there was flowing local Cviček wine which I drank in heaps and which did not hurt me because of the low alcohol content. We had a local folk group performing for us, too.
Christine and I had a great time – you can see Christine (in light blue cloths) dancing with one of our male hosts in the top right shot. Not to be outdone I danced with a female member of the folk group – that’s me in the lower right hand shot. One thing that interested me a lot about the barge was the very long oar-like tiller which helped manouvre the barge (middle left hand shot) . At the bottom left is the River Krka.
