This is a merge of two shots. I loved the colours of the sky although my first intention was to capture a sunset.
A last shot of Gozo's Citadel before it got dark. Today the medieval city is surrounded by buildings but up to a few centuries ago it was on that hill top overlooking the empty countryside below. On the left side of the citadel are the fortifications added by the Knights in the early 17th century while on the right are the medieval walls. Across the valley is a plateau which reaches the same height as the citadel. At one time the Knights were thinking of fortifying that hill too as it was dangerously close to their fort in case of an attack on the island. Eventually the idea was given up.
