Taken from Birgu when I went with Ian and his mates. Ian convinced me to try some long exposure shots. This is one of them - any comments?.
After the Great Siege of 1565, The Order of St John decided to build a new city which could resist any attack. And I think that they did just that. Napoleon Bonaparte, when he took Malta in 1798 was afraid to make a frontal attack on the city and Nelson, too, when he came to Malta's aid during the revolt against the French in 1800 preferred to blockade the city from the seaward side than risk an unsuccessful attack.
World Cup: Italy beaten by Uruguay - a lousy match with barely 5 attempts at goal. In my view the sending off of Marchisio (of Italy) was too harsh a decision and Suarez (of Uruguay) should be given a long suspension for biting an opponent without provocation.
I saw also the Greeks win against Columbia. It does not seem to me that it was a merited victory.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
Love the water in the foreground with the play of light on the rippling water is wonderful. I also love the light on the walls. Thanks for the history. Agree with you re Italy, Uruguay.nfav
The whole scene is brilliant ... Magic! Beautiful lighting coupled with that dramatic sky. What can I say? Perfect and a fav. Your thoughts on USA-Germany? I've got to learn to get into soccor :-)
You do such a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of this area. The lighting in this, along with the clouds and ripples in the water, makes this one of those shots I keep looking at, and each time, see more and more in it.
The light on the walls to me looks warm and inviting. The image makes me want to move in for an even closer look. The textured water and character-rich sky add a wonderful touch to this picture.
Beautiful shot Dione! The lighting is gorgeous and the structure so impressive! The flowing water and cloudy sky just add to the mood. I think the only thing I would do, if I couldn't get closer is remove the rope and piling it's attached to. They are slightly distracting to me. But it's truly a great capture!
Beautiful! The glassy shine on the water is lovely and I like the way the colour of the lights complements the blue tones in the shot. Great reflections too.
