Friday, 6th – There was a festival of sacred music going on in Rabat, Gozo. So we went to watch a concert of supposedly sacred music. Performing was this local band – they were good musicians but I cannot tell if the music was sacred or not. I couldn’t understand the words and the music was too loud for my ears. We watched them for around 30 minutes just enough time to take some pictures of them and then we decided to leave. On our way out we learnt that two other bands would be performing after this one. At least entrance was free.
Joke: A drummer, sick of all the drummer jokes, decides to change his instrument. After some thought, he decides on the accordion. So he goes to the music store and says to the owner, "I'd like to look at the accordions, please."
The owner gestures to a shelf in the corner and says "All our accordions are over there."
After browsing, the drummer says, "I think I'd like the big red one in the corner."
The store owner looks at him and says, "You're a drummer, aren't you?"
The drummer, crestfallen, says, "How did you know?"
The store owner says, "That `big red accordion' is the radiator."
Thank you very much for looking and for the lovely comments and the fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Great collage of the event. I think you`re very brave. It`s always to noisy for me. I`ll not stay that long. If there is no button to turn it off I do n``t go there.
Music is quite individual in many ways- I've heard many styles being sung for Christian audiences. Some I thoroughly enjoyed (although it might not be the first style I think of when it comes to songs of the faith) and others, well, they were certainly not my cup of tea!! But in a way I'm glad there's such a diverse amount of music out there so that there's a little something for everyone. At least you got some good shots of the concert even though the music wasn't what you expected.
