Another shot from Ġnejna Bay. This is an entrance to private property – farmland - in the area. I liked it.
Sunshine and good limy soil helps the Maltese (& Gozitan) farmers produce all sorts of wonderful tasty vegetables. But because of the size of the population and the decreasing size of farmland there is never enough to feed the population.
Joke: A farm boy accidentally overturned his wagonload of corn. The farmer who lived nearby heard the noise and yelled over to the boy, "Hey Joe,forget your troubles. Come in here. I'll help you get the wagon up later."
"That's mighty nice of you," Joe answered, "But I don't think my dad would like me to."
"Aw come on boy," the farmer insisted.
"Well okay," the boy finally agreed, and added, "But dad won't like it."
After a hearty dinner, Joe thanked his host. "I feel a lot better now, but I know dad is going to be real upset."
"Don't be foolish!" the neighbour said with a smile. "By the way, where is he?"
"Under the wagon."
Thank you so much for looking and for the lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
This is so nice to see. I live in a city, but we have urban farms. We once hosted some relatives from the country, and all they wanted to see was other farms--agri-tourism.
oh my gosh, as always your jokes make me laugh out loud-----now your narrative.........the picture of things, most of the time, is bigger than what we see,
Power to the farmers they need good soil to grow our vegetables.
