Three more shots I took while I watched the first stage of the Tour de France last Saturday. The stage was held in Normandy, north of France.
First shot on the left shows Utah Beach. Here on June 6, 1944, 21,000 U.S. troops landed as part of the Allied invasion of German-occupied France during WWII (Read more on Wikipedia)
Middle shot: A sailing yacht sails along Utah beach. Its red sails contrasted beautifully with the blue water.
Right shot: Spectactors/supporters wave national flags as they watch the cyclists ‘fly’ by.
One of the main reason that attracted me to this sport so many years ago was the beautiful scenery and the fun crowds. Now I have become addicted to cycling.
Btw I do not ride a bike, I don’t know how to cycle and am afraid to try it out.
Thank you so much for looking and for all the comments and fav's on yesterday's picture.
the beaches of Normandy are wonderful but I found it very moving when we stood there last year to think of all the young lives lost. We have to stay up very late here to watch the Tour but really enjoy it and have become addicte too
