The Alhambra of Granada (Andalusia) is one of the marvels of human construction.
This is the courtyard of a palace built in 1527 by Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, within a moorish complex. The complex built by the Nasrid dynasty formed a ‘palace city’ consisting of a defensive zone, residential and formal state building, the Nasrid palaces and the palace gardens and orchards. Charles V demolished part of the architectural complex to build the Palace which bears his name.
