Sunday before yesterday was the last in the Summer festa season in the Sliema area. It was the feast of the parish of St Gregory. Friday night before the festa the secondary statue was raised on its pedestal on the Sliema waterfront. Here you see:
Left picture. The statue carried by volunteers following the parish band. Next two pictures show phases in the raising of the statue onto its pedestal.
Fab triptych, makes for compelling viewing. I can't get over how precariously perched the people raising the statue look to be!
How heavy are the statues that are carried around in the processions you have, Dione?
