Friday was really cold and most people stayed inside. We went to Marsalforn in the evening to pass some time until it was time to go and eat at our, now, favourite small restaurant in Nadur. Marsalforn was deserted; we had a coffee in a well-heated but otherwise empty restaurant to while away the time and then headed to Nadur.
Nadur is the place where I made friends with a restaurant owner who considers his place as the local supporters’ club of Stoke City. We always make sure to visit him whenever we’re in Gozo.
Took this shot of the square in front of his shop. At the far end is Nadur Parish Church and Basilica. On Good Friday a procession/pageant representing the way of the cross up to Christ’s crucifiction comes out of the church and goes round the village. The lit crosses are part of the appropriate embellishment to go with the procession.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
I absolutely love this one, fav! The illuminated crosses against the darkness and stone and light on the cobbles - wonderful. Love your story too. I remember you mentioning your restaurant owning friend before. Lovely
The natural paintings he did start with. The New York paintings was his last (Victory Boogie Woogie) You can easely translate the link so you know more of it.
The Crosses are very decorative on the buildings.
