The Maltese name Xemxija means ‘bathing in the sunshine’ and this is Xemxija Bay with St Paul’s Islands at the tip. St Paul’s Islands are the islands on which traditionally the Roman ship carrying St Paul to Rome was wrecked. If you look closely you will see the statue of St Paul on the bigger island. However, studies carried out these last years have brought up the theory that the wreck was actually further east at St Thomas Bay.
Took this shot from an opening between the palazzi of Wardija.
