Only a five hundred metre walk down a path leads you from Ħaġar Qim Temples to Mnajdra temples built around the fourth millennium BC and even older than Ħaġar Qim. The Megalithic Temples of Malta are among the most ancient religious sites on Earth. In 1992 UNESCO recognized the Mnajdra complex and four other Maltese megalithic structures as UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Canopies to protect both Mnajdra and Ħaġar Qim from the elements were completed in 2009
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
I think I could handle that! The entire complex sounds fascinating. The canopies remind me of one of the sites I visited in Israel. On my first trip there everything was exposed to the elements but on my second trip they'd covered over the 4000 yr. old gate with a canopy much like this. It was a good thing as the elements were washing away the mud bricks of the structure rather quickly.
( It`s imposible. On other pic`s you can see it as the land behind the dike is lower as the water level )
