MNAJDRA TEMPLES by sangwann

MNAJDRA TEMPLES

A quartet of shots from these fascinating temples. The temples had their own stone roofs. As you can see from the pictures, there are upright stones – these formed the walls of the rooms which were built in a circular shape. The horizontally laid stones were placed to form the roof. Each layer was placed slightly inwards to the previous layer until they met at the top. Although not one of the temple rooms has a roof, on one stone there is engraved a sketch of a finished one – this has been interpreted as being a design of the architect’ who oversaw the project.
Many thanks for all your views, comments and favs. Always much appreciated.
