ALONG THE HERITAGE TRAIL

Still from Max’s and my ‘excursion’ to the Neolithic temples on 28th December.

I had to post this lovely view of the rock face below the trail. This was pointed to us by the nice Security Officers who were at the entry/exit gate of Mnajdra Temples. The sun was so beautiful and warm on the day that you just wanted to stay out and enjoy it. I am always sad that Christine doesn’t come along when Max and I take these country adventures but she prefers to spend her time going around the local shops and is not fond of long walks.

A similar formation very much like this the ‘Azure Window’ in Dwejra, Gozo, which was very popular with Maltese and tourists crumbled and crashed into the sea 2 years ago. Same thing will happen to this one day.
Thank you so much for looking and for the comments and fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Its so interesting that you see this geological formation all round the world - often call the elephant rock. I do like to read all your explanation!

A wonderful formation of the rock and into the sea . I love how the sea and passage of time has formed an archway through the rock - I wonder how many thousands of years will change all this ! - Lovely capture of its shape and textures - Max is so lucky to have you to go round and appreciate all these wonderful places !

This is a beautiful shot, especially with the sun shining on the water. I would much rather be walking by the sea or in the countryside than looking round shops. It’s great that you have Max to share your adventures with.

Great shot- it's fascinating what the ocean can carve out of the stone and then slowly destroy through the years.

We are building them in the sea also now;
Prototypes from denmark and already started :
The sound is almost more impressive than the size. On the embankment of the port city of Esbjerg in Denmark are two prototypes of the windmills of which 94 are being built off the coast of Zeeland.

It concerns wind turbines of 8 megawatts that reach higher than the Euromast. Each 81-meter rotor blade is longer than the wingspan of an Airbus 380 airliner. In 2020, the wind farm must supply power to one million households in the Netherlands.

The impressive buzz of the wind turbines will not be heard on the beach in Zeeland - the wind park will be located 23 kilometers off the coast of Westkapelle - but it can be seen. "On a clear day you can see there are large windmills in the distance on a foggy day you can see nothing," said Steven English, director of Ø rsted Netherlands.
