This is the Hamrun railway station. Way back in 1883 the railway was introduced in Malta. However, with the advent of public buses the railway company could not compete and It stopped operating in 1931. This is what is left of the station at Hamrun.
Close by is a workshop of the company that ran the train service which has all the equipment and tools of the time still intact. My brother and I went to visit on a Sunday of a few weeks ago as it was going to be open to the public. However when we got there we were informed that the only one guided tour to take place had already finished and the workshop was closed and that there would not be anotheropen day until God knows when.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and fav’s. They are very much appreciated.
A lovely piece of nostalgia Dione , what a shame you failed to get in on the workshop and tour but never the less a lovely b/w image with all the puddles and great reflections !
