LIKE STAR WARS

My reason for taking Max to Valletta was to take him to the Grand Master’s Palace – now The Maltese President’s Office – to show him the palace armoury. So for the next few days I will be showing a little bit of what one can see there.

In this collage are three helmets from different eras and made in different European countries. I am not a fan of Star Wars but these helmets - especially the one on the right – remind me of the soldiers of Star Wars. I did my best to avoid the many reflections on the glass cases and this is the best I could do.
Thank you very much for looking and for the comments and fav’s on yesterday’s picture.

It’s hard to imagine that men actually wore this stuff. It must have been horrendous. A great capture though.

I can't even imagine how uncomfortable it must have been to wear one of those- but if it kept you alive in a battle, I suppose you'd put up with it.

The arrows were part of a project each family did. They wrote their name on the shaft and then attached the feathers for each child. Some families kept them simple but others were quite elaborate. The project was tied in with the theme of the camp which taught that each child was like an arrow sent out into the world and parents must invest time and love in them so they have a better understanding on how much God loves them too. The lady who was running the craft portion had put them out on the table as a display like that before the families started working on them. I thought it made a really nice shot. So no symbolism or meaning per se- just a nice design.

Fascinating helmets. Well photographed--it's hard to take shots in a museum.
