Gull to another: “Look Joe, Arnold is taking off, again! He can’t stay in one place for too long like us.”
Joe: “ He has just come back from his daily flypast, stupid.”
First gull: Ï still say that he is taking off.”

I'd say he is taking off because you see a little trace of water moving behind him. Also when landing they usually have their feet pointing forwards to break.
