threads strands and memories

A real old time loom really gave me a thrill as we explored the store of tweeds. There it was just as I remembered it......they now use modern double width looms! And the spinning wheels were there too though I don't remember seeing them in use.
I just loved the poem on display on the wall. It says it all!
Nice- love those old looms too! My cousin's father was a weaver and had an old wooden loom stored in his attic. When they were cleaning out the house, my cousin gave it to me and it remained disassembled for years. It only had two harnesses and I had a four harness loom of my own. Eventually I gave it to a friend in St. Louis who really wanted to weave (with my cousin's permission of course), but she ended up not having the time or dedication to restore it and in turn (with everybody's permission of course!) donated it to the Daniel Boone Historical Society, who restored it and are now using it on display at the Daniel Boone Homestead! So, I really enjoyed this collage and it brought to mind a fun loom story of my own!

This is just wonderful! I am really enjoying your collages. Love how you add words. What program do you use?

@olivetreeann how fascinating! Glad you enjoyed the collage and thinking about your own story.
@june @barbsmith Thanks - glad you like them.
I edit my photos and create the collages using Picasa 3 which has lots of different options some of which I am only just exploring! The words can be added in there too. Sometimes I use Picnik which is an option in there and do the frames with their options. I love working on different ways to arrange /compose the collages but it's not really difficult. Enjoy!

@sarah19 Thanks, Sarah. I use Picnik as well but guess I never explored the option of adding words. I will need to explore that further.

A piece of history. I like the background colour of the collage - it fits the Harris scene well.
