Amaryllis by sarah19

Amaryllis

one of three blossoms on mum's wonderful amaryllis which was a gift from her cousin just before Christmas. You can just see another bud peeping through.......great pleasure!
Three good things.....where do I start - it has been such a lovely day.
* Slept till 10.30......I don't often do that!
* nice little walk to the shops and some pretty gifts going cheap in a shop that is closing down (not so good)
* roast beef from our butcher at home for dinner tonight - you can't beat good food and good company!
A beautifully framed picture, it sounds as though you had a nice day

Framing in that pic is smashing - amaryllis are such tricky things to shoot! and the three good things is an excellent reminder of how lucky we are really!

The flower is lovely, and your day sounds perfect for a weekend.

At first thank you for colours, my amaryllis just finished flowering :)
And then. I find out from the map your birthday breakfast place. The reason for it is next story: ( I apologize my poor English )
You are a teacher and you have to know the Keithhall Primary School. Our two of three children studied there one year ( 1974-75 ) and we lived in the village Kinmuck .
Our house was old Meeting house "Friends cottage".
It was the year when all houses were rented by the oilmen. The owners of Friends cottage went to Hereford for a year and we got the house. Once when I was baking with my youngest, she was then one year old, over ten schoolchildren with their teacher came in and wanted the see a church, which was a historic sight. Do you know the place?
And every weekend we drove to see a new castle :) Dundottar castle is in my mind best - you can guess why when we were with three children there :) So many memories!! Bennachie was also our regular Sunday trip object.
My son took his family to see those places few years ago, I have plenty of nice photos from his two daughters in the different places in Scotland. We traveled also a lot around during that year.
Is this Keithhall School working any more?
I wish all the best to you!

Hi Leena
How lovely to read your comment! Yes Keithhall School is still there and quite busy. Grandson of one of my friends started school there this year - age 5.
It is a wonderful part of the country to live in. We have lived in Oldmeldrum since 1984.....came with one little guy, had three more children and they are now all away from home. One in Kiev, one in Australia and two still in Scotland!
If you ever come back to visit do get in touch!

Thank you for your kind answer!
My husband remember that he was in Oldmeldrum with the staff of the Rowett Research Institute , where he was working then. He is now the emeritus professor of animal physiology and I am retired biologist too :)
We have traveled in many countries now during last years, we visited during a cruise of the Black Sea even Odessa in Ukraine but not Kiev :)
I feel that our children`s families are faraway when they are living 300 - 400 km away from our home, we have six grandchildren and we have been married next June 49 years, I was 21years then but no need to add those years ;)
Warm greetings to you and your parents !
