Today has been a very special day as well as the last day of our holiday in the Netherlands.
We travelled to The Hague and met up with our lovely friends - Marieke, who stayed with us at home for 3 months back in 1997, and her parents who also came to visit us in Scotland. Although we have only known each other for short visits we have always felt very close friends with so much to share together.
And so today we had a wonderful time catching up and seeing new things together. We had a lovely walk, after coffee :), in The Hague, then lunch and a tour of Delft. I have never been before but, as I loved Vermeer when I studied art at school, it was always a place I wanted to visit. And today was perfect there. Beautiful sunshine, lovely views, peace and calm in the old cathedral, and some fun with great friends!
My view of Delft is a little different from Vermeer's! http://www.essentialvermeer.com/catalogue/view_of_delft.html
Three good things
1. An excellent train journey with lovely views to The Hague.
2. A very special day with our lovely friends
3. Beautiful weather and beautiful places to visit.
And so much more!
