We came north-west for a few days away after all the busy weeks full of buzz and fun. We came to a favourite hotel in Ullapool, one of our favourite places with lots of memories from early times.
The lounge is upstairs and has a beautiful balcony with pots of flowers, looking towards the ferry terminal where travellers get the boat to and from Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides. That's where my dad grew up. This time we only have two days....not long enough to cross The Minch. https://www.theceilidhplace.com
Three good things
1. A good drive, coffee stop in Elgin and pretty good weather all the way over. Felt like unwinding underway as soon as we see the mountains.
2. Walk round favourite shops....one where I worked for a summer when I was a student.
3. Delicious dinner, and afterwards delightful musical evening with a talented young harp player and singer entertaining a full hall.
