Family Treasure

The old case and the button tin! The case is one we used when going on holiday when I was very little and has a soft cardboard label that just says 'N MacArthur, Tain' on it. Dad had some paper stuff in it, in the loft until about 5 years ago when they were having new insulation. He didn't know what to do with it and when I offered to take it home he said that would be great. So it sat in our garage until today.....actually he had got rid of most of the paperwork and there were a few interesting documents to do with maths (he taught maths!) , some notebooks from school....mostly empty and the newspaper pages from 'The Scotsman ' dated 1966 which were used to line the case.
Susannah arrived home from Amsterdam this morning and she loves the case so it will go up to our loft until she has an opportunity to take it with her!
And beside the case is the NATIONAL DRIED MILK tin that was my Mum's button tin. When we were tidying a cupboard last year she said I should take it home as she can't do things like sew on buttons now. Laura LOVES it.....I sharedthe photo......properly vintage.....so I guess it may end up with her!
Three good things
1. Airport arrival journeys are lovely.
2. Lunch at the local- The Redgarth- with always friendly owner Stewart.
3. Lots of chat, distillery visit, ice-cream cafe time, favourite food.....delightful day.
Beautiful vintage photo

Gracious what memories there Sallie! That suitcase has had a bit of a battering, but compared to these days it's probably not been that far!

I love these types of things when they contain a bit of family history. Super story and photo.

Thank you for the lovely comments.....it's nice just seeing it cleaned up a bit on the upstairs landing and Susannah has started some creative art with some of the written pages and photos of her grandpa who she loved so much!
