Made to order!

Isn't technology awesome.
Yesterday I had a text from Laura in
Melbourne to say that her lovely friend Miri was at home with her parents this week. ....and could I possibly make the favourite cake and take it over, from her!
So here I am with it ready to go. This is version 2 as I put too much milk in the one I made last night and it was rather floppy so we had to eat it ourselves!
What a lovely welcome we always get from Miri and her family.....with or without cake.
They did enjoy the cake and I took a photo of them holding empty plates 😀😀😀 and sent it to Laura. Round the world fun from a mobile phone!
Three good things
1. Got lots of sewing and ironing done this morning
2. Lovely catch up with Miri and family
3. Made the bus connection in Inverness even though my first bus was over 30 mins late! And what a lovely bus driver.....she just smiled and understood my relief!

Looks great Sarah. Would you be so kind as to share the recipe?

Thank you for your lovely comments. Bep this is a recipe we got from a lovely girl from Ermelo in The Netherlands, who came to stay with us almost 20 years ago. We call it Marieke Cake after her, but in my cookery book she has written it by hand and calls it Kruid Koek......I think...I'm not at home this evening!
Anyway it needs the following ingredients :
250g Self Raising Flour, 250g brown sugar, 1-2 teaspoons mixed spice (and I add extra cinnamon powder!)
1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda. Mix well together by hand or in food processor.
Add 2 or 3 handfuls of sultanas /raisins and mix well.
Finally add 200mls milk and I add 1 large spoonful of yoghurt. Mixture is soft but not too runny!
Pour/spoon into buttered and floured tin and bake at med heat for about 25 mins.
Marieke brought one with her when she arrived. It was her Grandma's recipe and was baked in a ring tin so we have always used that too.
Enjoy!

@happypat hi Pat.....no thankfully I didn't have the cake on the bus. It was safely delivered just 5 miles by car.....Allan driving and it was on my knee! The bus journey was later in the day travelling to Mum and Dad's. .....it was OK but I really prefer train travel. Going home by train on Tues 😊
PS this is my absolutely favourite shirt! Just sparks joy (Laura's phrase ) every time I wear it! 😁😁
