We had a very memorable visit to Cairo (original ) and M our driver was tour guide and photographer too. He made us laugh with all his selfie photos on his own and our phones /camera. We spent a couple of hours at The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, fascinating and could easily spend regular time here if we were around for longer.
Afterwards M took us to the highest place in the city with a great view on a clear day. We did see some features but the hot dusty air today limited what was visible. Delicious light lunch before heading back to New Cairo.
My concept of desert was very small until today. When you grow up and live in very green and pleasant Scotland the endless miles and miles of almost monotone sand and rock make you rethink the old stories and deeper meanings of journeys in the Old Testament, etc.
Three good things
1. M our lovely driver who takes great care of the family and was very kind today
2.The very old and the very new side by side in Cairo
3. Outdoor eating in warm dark sky evening. Lovely lighting in the courtyard at David and Jenn's apartment.
