I've never noticed that the pinecones on our spruce trees are purple in the spring.
Those little speckles covering it? Pollen. Lots and lots of pollen. Matthew kept gleefully shaking branches, releasing cascades of pollen. Ah-choo! (I guess we'll find out if he's allergic to tree pollen.)
@ziggy77@pamdavis2015 Thank you! I'm so glad I captured this when I did - today, all but a couple of the purple cones are already almost fully brown! Definitely a bit of lucky timing there. :)
