I think as of today our area is officially in a drought. Everywhere you look is dormant grass, wilted flowers and sad little ornamental trees, but I noticed on my walk tonight that there were carpets of these yellow flowered plants popping up everywhere.
Yes, birdsfoot trefoil is a weed, but with the evening sunlight filtering through the petals and the shock of color in an otherwise parched landscape, it looks wonderfully alive.
I hope it rains - really truly rains - soon!
