They celebrated Earth Day in school today - a couple of days late, but they don't go to school on Saturdays - and Matthew painted our planet on a plate.
I'm starting to understand - it only took me 12.5 years - that I can't keep all their art projects forever. I mean, I can try, but paper plates with finger paint on them are not exactly archival quality materials. Maybe if I take photos of them holding their art projects so proudly, I will be slightly less emotional when I'm forced to recycle the actual project somewhere down the road when it's faded and stuck to a different project.
Oh, yes, the saving of kids art work. I recently went through a whole lot of files and did something my kids, I'm sure, weren't thrilled about. I gave everything labeled with their names to them! Let the reminiscence and then get rid of....... of something. (The kids are now 51 and 49. It was time, I think!)
