We enjoyed a wonderful family day out at Lord's yesterday.
For the unititiated, Lord's is the home of cricket. It is in London, and is named after Thomas Lord, who originally owned the ground in the 1800's.
England arere playing the West Indies, and this was day three of a five day match.
This shot shows Graeme Swann losing his wicket at the end of a nice little cameo innings. The ball will have been travelling at about 90 miles per hour.
I like the action in this shot, and what is going on in the crowd, with people asleep, on the phone, talking to each other, reading! About a quarter of them missed the action!!!
@fannyb Sometimes the crowd can make a shot. My guess is that Pat means the thighs in the front row. I didn't like to mention them..... @happypat Thanks Pat, I was very pleased with several shots. I go one of Bresnan's stumps flying, and Sir Viv Richards (one of my fav ever cricketers) Ally Cook signing autographs etc etc, so expect my other albums to feature these during the week.
I can just imagine the thrill of reviewing the photo I'd just captured to see this - wow 'RESULT'. Congrats Sean, an awesome action shot capture - flying bales and all!
Sean, I look forward to some interesting banter with you during the next ashes series :-) I can't wait for the next Ashes series, I love cricket! And Aus vs Eng is the best!
@asutherland1964 Oh yes, bring it on! I think we will have two very tight series next year and the whole thing will come down to a few big moments. I have my tickets for day 1 and 2 at Durham already, and should easily get some for Trent Bridge. If you fancy making the trip, let me know, am sure i can get you a ticket somewhere! For me, the Ashes are the most important rivalry in any sport on the planet.
@seanoneill Absolutely! Nothing beats the ashes. Unfortunately, my forthcoming holiday budget is well and truly spent. Otherwise iwould love nothing more than spending it amongst the barmy army, haha
@asutherland1964 Never mind. Yeah, Day 1, you would take a fearful amount of stick from me and my mates whilst drinking 12 pints of Guinness whilst slowly frying in the sun and then being forced to eat a red hot curry and drink a couple of pints of lager. Day 2 tends to be a little quieter!!
