Most Fridays I make challah for Shabbat - http://365project.org/sharonlc/365/2011-01-21 But I like to make a Shabbat soda bread near St. Patrick's Day; it celebrates my husband and kids' miniscule amount of Irish heritage, and it's a nice change of pace. Plus I like demonstrating to the kids that bread of the earth is bread of the earth, and that we can incorporate different traditions into our Shabbat celebration. Normally I would bake the soda bread a little closer to St. Patrick's Day, but the calendar is going to be nutty the next couple of weeks so I figured I'd make the soda bread while the opportunity presented itself.
I took several photos of the soda bread using different lenses this morning, but wasn't happy with my captures. So I went back and took a few more this afternoon, and replaced my original capture of the day with this one.. I'm reasonably pleased with this shot, which I took using my external flash. The fact that I can look at my shots and go back to re-shoot with an idea of what I want to capture is progress. This project is definitely helping me learn how to improve my photography skills. I have a long way to go, but i definitely feel that I'm on the right path toward improvement.
