Bridge over quiet waters by shepherdman

Bridge over quiet waters

This was presumably part of a packhorse bridge serving one of the tracks leading into the village, but now stands isolated in the middle of a meadow, a wildlife area that is grazed in the summer months. Nowadays only a footpath crosses the bridge, but at least the bridge still crosses a river, albeit more of a stream. On the other side of the village there is a similar bridge in the middle of a field, but since the river has been diverted at some point in the past, this bridge just sits in the middle of the meadow, actually ending on what is now the river bank.
I love the story and how the cattle still use it.
