Back in Squamish, BC, and our last full day in Canada. We went for a walk around “The Four Lakes Trail”, which led through the temperate rainforest of the area, with moss hanging from tall fir trees, and ferns growing from tree stumps. It was almost silent and everything under the trees was illuminated by a shadowy green. It felt almost prehistoric.
After briefly stopping at Alice Lake, @shepherdmanswife decided that we would just circumnavigate Stump Lake before returning to the car. When we got to a footpath leading down to a river bed, and then beyond to Fawn Lake I said “I can hear the river so it can’t be far” followed by “It-can’t-be-that-far-to-Fawn-Lake” and to my surprise my persuasion actually worked. We branched off from the shorter trail to the path leading down to the river, which then headed for the other two lakes.
We spent a contented few minutes at the river, photographing the flowing water, @shepherdmanswife using her high-tech tripod, and me using a convenient flat-topped boulder. I was looking forward to exploring the trail around the next two lakes, but @shepherdmanswife ’s enthusiasm for hikes can be fickle. When she spotted a sign directing us along a short cut back to the road, we took it.
Love this "behind the scenes" view! I actually had a dream last night that I was standing on a boulder photographing in a river and the Boulder started sinking.
